Storage
Networking Industry Association (SNIA)
Dedicated to"ensuring that storage networks become complete and trusted
solutions across the IT community" SNIA forms and sponsors technical
workgroups produces
(with our strategic partner Computerworld) the Storage Networking World
Conference series, builds and maintains a vendor neutral Technology Center
in Colorado Springs, and by promotes activities that expand the breadth
and quality of the storage networking market.
IOP Magnetism Group — formed in 1965 to stimulate interest in magnetism and to advance the science and technology of magnetism.
American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Information Stroage & Processing Systems Division -serves the mechanical engineer engaged in the data storage and information processing systems industries. The primary focus has been in the rapidly growing data storage industry dominated by rigid and floppy disks, magnetic tape, VCR and optical disk technologies.
Quarter-Inch Cartridge Drive Standards Inc (QIC) a nonprofit industry association and a resource for network and PC users.
Information Storage Industry Consortium (INSIC) — incorporated in 1991 NISC is headquartered in San Diego and consists of over fifty corporations, universities and national labs with common interests in the field of digital information storage.
Information Storage Industry Center (ISIC) - located at UCSDs Graduate School of International Relations and Pacific Studies, this program promotes direct relationships btween ISIC and data storage industry leaders.
IDEMA — trade organization for the Storage Industry.
Tape Head Interface Consortium (THIC)- started out as a round-table group convened by the US Department of Defense to bring together vendors, manufacturers and users at the leading edge of recording technology, but quickly became a public forum.
Micromagnetic Modeling Activity Group - part of the NIST Center for Theoretical and Computational Materials Science (CTCMS). It addresses fundamental issues in micromagnetic modeling. Micromagnetic calculations find application in both permanent and soft magnetic materials, in magnetic recording media, and in magnetic devices such as recording heads and magnetic field sensors.
Topical Group on Magnetism and its Applications (GMAG) - formed in 1996 to serve physicists working in magnetism by providing a focal point for consideration of the technological aspects of magnetism within the American Physical Society; by organizing conference sessions of interest to physicists working in applications of magnetism; and by fostering interactions and meetings with other scientists and engineers interested in advancing and diffusing knowledge of the multidisciplinary field of magnetism.
NIST, Electronics and Electrical Engineering Laboratory, The Magnetic Technology Division - develops and disseminates unique measurement technology for industries concerned with magnetic information storage and superconductor power.
