Email Current Awareness Services - a list of sites providing free Tables of Contents alerting services. These current awareness alerting services allow you to have journal and conference citations sent automatically to your email address. A keyword or author search strategy that describes your research interests is saved online. This search will then be run automatically everytime the database is updated. This is an excellent way of staying up to date in your area of scientific or engineering research.

Community of Science (COS) - the leading Internet site for the global R&D community. COS brings together the world's most prominent scientists and researchers at more than 1,600 universities, corporations and government agencies worldwide. COS provides tools and services that enable these professionals to communicate, exchange information and find the people and technologies that are important to their work.

Online Materials Information Resource (MatWeb) — a free materials database with information on over 25,000 materials including metals, plastics, ceramics, and composites.

ResearchIndex (CiteSeer) - a search engine that aims to improve the dissemination and feedback of scientific literature, and to provide improvements in functionality, usability, availability, cost, comprehensiveness, efficiency, andtimeliness. ResearchIndex indexes Postscript and PDF research articles on the Web and provides a citation index.

Intute - Intute is a free online service that helps you to find the best web resources for your studies and research. With millions of resources available on the Internet, it can be difficult to find useful material. Our subject specialists review and evaluate thousands of resources to help you choose the key websites in your subject. We can also help you develop your Internet research skills through our Virtual Training Suite tutorials, written by lecturers and librarians from universities across the UK. Intute is created by a consortium of seven universities, working together with a whole host of partners.

Dictionary of Units - provides a summary of most of the units of measurement to be found in use worlwide, together with the appropriate conversion factors needed to change them into a 'standard' unit of the S I.
