The
Workshop had 45 attendees, including drive technology and firmware designers
who work with SMART attribute measurements, warning algorithms, and performance
issues; drive makers who want high warning accuracy together with low
probability of false failure warnings; and computer makers and disk drive
users who want to understand SMART and its potential.
Successful results from SMART research projects conducted at CMRR with
drive manufacturers were discussed. Drive makers presented talks on SMART
technology and performance. There was a panel of drive makers and users,
answering questions on SMART technology both present and future.
The SMART research program is sponsored by the UCSD Information Storage Industry Center, funded by the Sloan Foundation. For questions or comments regarding this site, please e-mail SmartInfo@ucsd.edu.
