Kesong Yang

Assistant Professor

The Yang group's research interests are in the areas of computational materials science, with particular emphasis on materials modeling and simulation using first-principles (or ab-initio) calculations. A theme of our research is to study structural, electronic, optical and magnetic properties of materials, aiming to understand, optimize, and predict materials properties for the design of novel functional nanomaterials.

Prof. Kesong Yang joined the UC San Deigo faculty in July 2013. Prior to that, Dr. Yang was a Postdoctoral Researcher Associate at Duke University from 2010-2013, with Prof. Stefano Curtarolo. Dr. Yang got his Ph.D. Degree in Atomic and Molecular Physics from Shandong University in 2010. To read more about Professor Yang, please visit his website.
